Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine. The original cupping method involved using animal horns to create suction on the skin. Today, cupping therapy is typically done with glass cups and a pump. The therapist will place the cups on the skin and then use the pump to create suction. The suction pulls the skin and underlying tissue into the cup.
There are two main types of cupping therapy: wet and dry. Wet cupping, also known as Hijama cupping, involves making small incisions in the skin before attaching the cups. Dry cupping does not involve breaking the skin.
Our trained professionals perform cupping therapy by placing or moving stationary cups across the skin of the target area. Fixed cups are typically left on the skin for 5-10 minutes, while moving cups may stay in place for a shorter time.
Cupping therapy is safe when performed by a trained professional; however, some people may experience temporary skin bruising from cupping therapy.
Discuss any questions or concerns with our staff at any point during scheduling or your cupping therapy in Arlington.
The suction from the cups mobilizes blood flow, bringing fresh blood and nutrients to the muscles and tissues while helping remove waste products and toxins.
Both types of cupping therapy can provide several benefits, including pain relief, improved circulation, and reduced inflammation. For more information on the benefits of cupping therapy, we invite you to explore this service page.
Cupping has been used for thousands of years to treat various conditions, including pain, inflammation, anxiety, and fatigue. Dry cupping is a type of cupping that does not use any additional substances, such as herbs or oils, making it an ideal treatment for sensitive skin or allergies.
Dry cupping is when the therapy relies solely on the creation of suction. In dry cupping, there are two main treatments:
Sports cupping and massage cupping are both forms of dry cupping. Cupping therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that has few side effects.

In our fast-paced world, there is little time for rest and rejuvenation. Even if we find the time to take physical rest, we become mentally overloaded with digital distractions. Hijama is an easy and effective treatment to restore your health.
Wet cupping involves puncturing the skin before starting the suction, which removes some of the patient's blood during the procedure. Wet cupping typically leaves round bruises on a person's skin, where blood vessels burst after exposure to the procedure's suction effects.
Most people do not experience pain during Hijama as the cuts are tiny and shallow. However, occasionally, you may feel like you got scratched or tickled. As for the suction, there is usually a feeling of deep relaxation as the body releases endorphins in response to the cups.
There are countless health benefits of Wet Cupping (Hijama), including:

Before: We will check your temperature, vital signs, and fingerstick hemoglobin (blood count level ) if needed. Next, you will be seen by Dr. Parvez and discuss your unique situation. Then you will change into a gown, and we will clean your skin and apply the cups in the number and locations needed.
During: There is a suction period for 1-3 minutes, followed by removing the cups and then cleansing with iodine. Then we make the tiny incisions with a sterile scalpel before replacing the cups for 8-10 minutes of suction before removal and disposal. You may feel minor discomfort when placing the cups on your skin, but this should subside after a few minutes.
After: The therapist will remove the cups and massage the area before applying lotion or oil. After Cupping Therapy, you will feel invigorated and relaxed. Your skin may also be slightly pink or bruised for a few days after the treatment.
